My Sisters Keeper reading response

My sisters Keeper by Jodi Picoult is an excellent novel about a family who is falling to pieces. Im only about a eighth of the way through but already there has been so many details. I feel like I just jumped right into it, kinda like I had already been reading it for a while. The author was trying to explain a family who loved each other so much, but had one big problem that was tearing them apart. In this case its cancer.

The story is told in different points of views. The mom, The dad, The brother,The lawyer and the 2 daughters each have their own chapters as well. Anna and Kate. Kate has leukemia, which is a kind of blood cancer that is very dangerous. The whole story is based around that. Anna who is the daughter was born to save her sister. They needed someone who was exactly like Kate. Anna has to go to the hospital every time Kate goes so she can give her anything she needs. Like some cells, or bone marrow, or even a kidney. They love Anna with all of their hearts and Anna knows that..but she still feels like she doesn't belong. She knows that if Kate hadn't been diagnosed, She wouldn't be here. Reading both of the parents story makes me feel really bad. They don't get much free time. Its work and then go home to take care of the kids. They have been dealing with this since Kate was about 5. She is now 16. It would be pretty hard to watch your daughter die of cancer. Especially if you know that she could die at any moment.

Anna is very angry that her parents don't really even acknowledge that she doesn't want to do this anymore. She is a very bright girl with a lot of potential but she is also very very stubborn. She had decided so sue her parents for the rights to her own body.  Anna is about 14 years old and has been donating many many things to kate since the day she was born. She isn't sick but she might as well be.

Kate and her whole family are coping with her having cancer. The funny thing is that Kate is okay with it. She has gotten used to going to the hospital a lot and dealing with all of her pain and she knows that her family suffers too so she doesn't bring it up.

I love this book and I recommend it to anyone who wants to read a touching story about a family keeping it together.
