How does this text address the points of view (perspectives) of other groups, especially those who usually don’t get to tell their side?

I am reading The Girl Who Fell From the Sky by Heidi W. Durrow In this book, it deals with a lot of racism and the economy and the hardships of being african american in the olden days. The book shows me the how a little girl who is half white and half black deals with fitting in at her new school. This little girls name is rachel and her parents have just recently died and she has gone to live with her grandma. 

  I just started reading this book, but it switches off with different perspectives. But in the one with rachel, she talks about how hard it is for her to be in a school with white kids and black kids because they judge her either way. The whites think she is too black and the blacks think she is too white. In the novel, Rachel feels like she is never going to be liked by any of the kids at her school because she will never really truly fit in. 

    Usually you don't always here the side of what its like to be a african american child in those days. You just hear about what its like for adults. I think that it wrong the way she is being treated by some people.
